And in out of control cops news...
The intoxicated man is unable to catch the peanuts with his mouth, and he slumps out of his chair and eats the nuts with great difficulty from the booking room floor while the officer watches and then kicks them toward the homeless man so he can better reach them. The video does not contain audio, but a source told the newspaper that Halpin gave “dog commands” to Miller during the July 18 incident.
The newspaper obtained a copy of the booking video Monday through an open records request, and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the Sarasota Police Department both said they were unaware of the officer’s actions until a reporter contacted them about the incident.
Trying to toss peanuts into the homeless guy's mouth, giving him "dog commands", making him pick up food with basically his face. This video is disgusting and heart-wrenching, not only because this poor guy is literally being treated like a caged animal, but because it is indicative of what cops think of us as a whole: citizens are to be disrespected and reviled, cops are above the law, and there is nothing we can do about it.We sit here and wonder "what can we do to reform policing"....there are no reforms for people like this. There is nothing that would make them better. They are just sick, sadistic creatures who were attracted to policing because of the power woody they get from it.
The only way to get rid of disrespectful thug cops like this one is kick ass and take names. Fucking fire the twerp.
No, no...you know the drill. He gets administrative leave.
Sigh.
Here is the video from the Herald Tribune
Christ alive. How disgusting.
Oh and the three "good cops" in the background? Notice how not a fucking one of them stopped this abuse. Methinks there are three other cops on that police force that could use a little "administrative leave"
h/t to pajoly for catching that.
