In a dire emergency

Hi everyone,

I have nowhere else to turn, and have run out of options but to plead with the community to help.

A little background

My wife and I moved into a lovely house from a dingy 1 br apartment a while back. We were ecstatic and it seemed like a dream of a lifetime. Plenty of room, back yard and front, within our price range but we could survive, all the works. We decided to jump on the opportunity, and we absolutely loved it. Its such a great house with a lot of character. It was in the county my wife works in so it cut her commute basically in half as well. There was, however, one caveat: the landlords would live on the other side of the “duplex” (our landlords divided their house into to portions). They would only be back once a year for about a month but it was no big deal. So, my wife and I moved in.

February this year the landlords came back, and it was a bit awkward. We had some disagreements at first, which I wont get into here, but they were mostly nice, not loud, very kind people. We didn’t bother each other and my wife and I thought it was going swimmingly. Our landlords had planned to do a meeting with us last Sunday as there was a small problem with the lease (a mistake had been made, I guess). So the time comes, our landlords knock at the door, and they ask for my wife to be there as well. Then I noticed they only had one piece of paper in their hand and it had already been signed and knew what I was in for.

When my wife arrived at the door they handed us aforementioned paper. A notice to terminate our lease. My wife and I were crushed. We loved this house and were willing to keep paying rent (early. mind you), but the landlords minds were made up. They had decided to sell, and we were in the way of that. Mind you, we were never told this was a temporary rental — we were absolutely lead to believe that this would be long term housing and we were lied to.

So my wife and I spent a lot of Sunday absorbing what just happened and apartment hunting. Luckily we found something very very quickly. Very nice apartment around the same rent and on the same street even. So we excitedly applied and waited for an answer which we got today.

Of course we knew we would have to pay deposit but this is an emergency so we thought the management company would work with us, turns out we have 48 hours to get 1500 dollars, and now I turn to you guys. Honestly, we dont have any savings and a lot of that is my fault. I have been disabled and out of work for 3 years. My hearing for SSDI is coming up in May, but this expense just hit us at a hard time. We have about 500 bucks in our account but honestly thats what we have to survive on. If this were april at the start of the month it would be a lot easier (theyre not charging us first month as a part of the deal theyre runnng), but we have 48 hours or we lose the apartment.

I hate that I have to do this, but I am mostly estranged from my own family and my wifes family doesnt have the money to loan. If there is anything, anything you can do to help us, it would be much appreciated.

Here is a link to the gofundme (I know they wont get it to me in exactly 48 hours, but I am sure I can beg the management company for a little more time):

Thank you.

we are at 1500/1500. Thank you all for your support

my wife got an 800 dollar loan, with the money you all gave us it’s enough to get it done. We’re gonna dip into our surivival money for the month (~700 with overdraft protection) to secure the apartment and the money you all raised with the gfm and PayPal will pay for survival until then. There is no need to donate any more! Thanks!
